Description for B&B:

"The true paradises are the ones we have lost", as M. Proust once said. But one cannot truly understand the sentiment until they have experienced it themselves.

Welcome to the enchanting country villa "Il Palazzotto," a hidden gem dating back to the eighteenth century. Originally a farm in an Etruscan village nestled amidst the picturesque Sienese hills, adorned with cypress trees, castles, and farms surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Conveniently located just 30 km from Siena, this villa serves as the perfect base to explore the wonders of Tuscany. The region is renowned for producing the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino wine, and is rich in charming villages and monasteries along the historic "Via Francigena" pilgrimage route from France to Rome.

Our villa comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests, offering six spacious double rooms and six bathrooms. The ground floor boasts a large living room and lounge area, a well-equipped kitchen, all opening up to a magnificent panoramic terrace overlooking a meticulously maintained garden adorned with flowers and plants, including a captivating wisteria pergola. (Watch the video on Youtube "Il Palazzotto Siena")

Here, you can indulge in romantic candlelit dinners, immersing yourself in nature's embrace while admiring the same breathtaking panorama that inspired Leonardo da Vinci. Adjacent to the terrace, there is another delightful elevated area featuring a swimming pool and a beautifully landscaped sundeck.

The property spans over 42 acres of woodlands and Mediterranean vegetation, which have been preserved as part of a natural park with designated green routes, teeming with diverse flora and fauna.

At "Il Palazzotto," we pride ourselves on offering our guests a truly immersive experience. The owner and our qualified staff are readily available to assist with any needs or provide information about the surrounding cities, roads, farms, and castles. Our utmost attention is also dedicated to our culinary offerings, where you can savor the flavors of our region through traditional local dishes prepared by the owner. Some highlights include Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, Pienza pecorino cheese, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany DOC, ricciarelli, and panforte, among others.

This historic house has been meticulously restored and renovated, while still maintaining its traditional Tuscan charm. The ground floor features a cozy living room with two fireplaces, perfect for relaxation. Guests also have access to telephone, fax, and internet connections. From the ground floor, you can step out onto the garden terrace or ascend to the first floor, where the six bedrooms are located. The elegant dining room, adorned with antique furniture, features a grand table comfortably seating up to 14 people.

On the first floor, you will find six spacious bedrooms, tastefully furnished by the owner with quality furniture, each offering splendid views. The rooms located at the corners of the building boast private bathrooms with showers, bidets, and modern accessories. All rooms are equipped with double beds, and one of them also includes an additional single bed. The two central rooms feature canopy beds, while the other two have twin beds. A shared bathroom with a shower is conveniently located down the hall, and an additional bathroom is available on the ground floor.

Thanks to its central location, "Il Palazzotto" allows for easy exploration of Florence, Siena, and their surrounding areas. In just over an hour, you can also reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, including Assisi and Perugia. Rome is a mere 200 km away from our villa.

Our region is renowned for its rich history and natural beauty. From the Renaissance treasures of Florence to the Gothic wonders of Siena, as well as the Etruscan and Roman relics scattered throughout the land, the cultural heritage of our region is truly captivating. Don't miss the opportunity to visit charming towns like Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni during your stay. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add an extra layer of charm to your explorations. The hauntingly beautiful St. Antimo Abbey in Montalcino, with its Gregorian chants, the Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli at the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, and the magical ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano are just a few of the remarkable sites that will leave a lasting impression.

The unique and ever-changing landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods, and fields, with colors that shift with the seasons, will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on your memory, just as Proust would say.
