Description for B&B:
Idiartekoborda, an ancient barn from the seventeenth century, was transformed into a charming farmhouse in 1832 and underwent renovations in 2004. The spacious bedrooms, with their exposed beams and stone walls, each come with a private bathroom. Guests can enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings and the magnificent view of the ever-changing colors of the Basque mountains. The panoramic vista extends from the renowned Mont Hautza to the walls of Iparla. Sandrine, the host, prepares exceptional breakfasts using only the finest ingredients. Her husband, Jean-Paul, is delighted to guide guests on hiking and mountain biking routes. Nearby, there is the picturesque village of Baïgorry and a mere 50km away lies the stunning contrast between the towering peaks of the vineyards and Iparla Irouleguy. Nature enthusiasts can explore numerous hiking trails suitable for all levels, as well as the forests and preserved flora and fauna in Iraty Hayri. St Jean Pied de Port is only 10km away, along the route to St Jacques de Compostela via the Roncesvalles pass, and is close to the vibrant and famous Basque villages of Ainhoa, Espelette, Sare, Itxassou, as well as lesser-known but equally charming places like Banca and Urepel. The proximity to the Spanish border allows guests to savor the local cuisine and experience the charm of the region. For those seeking adventure, there are various sports activities available, including rafting, kayaking, hydrospeed in Bidarray, and canyoning descents in the Upper Gorge Soule. Louhossoa offers paragliding, Itxassou offers gliders, and St. John the Elder offers hot air balloon rides. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a rustic game at Epherra in Souraïde, which is only 20 minutes away, or explore the seven other golf courses along the Basque coast, all within an hour's drive of the farmhouse. The beautiful beaches of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz are also easily accessible.Reviews
