Description for Gite

The DER Lake is highly esteemed for its significant role in supporting various bird species, serving as a breeding ground, wintering spot, and migration rest stop. With over 200 species, including some protected ones, the lake is a haven for ornithology enthusiasts.

The lake boasts three marinas: Nemours, Nuisement, and Giffaumont, all of which have been awarded the prestigious blue flag label. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as swimming in one of the six beaches, fishing, and engaging in various water sports like windsurfing, power boating, and water skiing. Additionally, there are approximately 250 km of well-marked hiking and cycling trails, perfect for exploring the lake's surroundings or connecting to nearby Saint-Dizier via the Marne canal, covering a distance of 12 km.

The Der region is renowned for its charming half-timbered religious structures, such as the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Châtillon-sur-Broué. To facilitate exploration, a dedicated tourist route showcasing churches dating back to the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries has been established.

In close proximity to the lake, visitors can discover captivating attractions like the national stud farm of Montier-en-Der, the Protestant Museum, and the Romanesque church of Wassy. Additionally, the towns of Vitry-le-François, Saint-Dizier, and Bar-le-Duc offer further opportunities for exploration. Further afield, the Orient Forest Regional Natural Park, composed of a series of artificial lakes designed to regulate the Seine's flooding, presents yet another captivating natural wonder.

LA ROSERAIE is conveniently accessible via various routes. Departemental road 13 from Vitry-le-François, departemental road 384 from Saint-Dizier, departemental roads 153 and 4, and the RN 67 from Wassy, Joinville, Chaumont, and Dijon, as well as departemental road 12 from Montier-en-Der, all lead to our location. The closest aerodrome is Vitry-le-François - Vauclerc, and the nearest SNCF station is in Saint-Dizier.
