Located in the stunning Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana, our place offers incredible natural beauty and the perfect environment for rural tourism. We have converted a century-old farmhouse, along with its barn and stables, into five comfortable self-catering apartments. In the restoration process, we have made sure to preserve the architectural style of the Algarve.

Our apartments are fully equipped with a kitchenette, utensils, linens, toiletries, duvets, wood, and climate control. We have paid attention to every detail to ensure that you feel at home during your stay.

There is a front yard that serves as a common area, where you can enjoy an aperitif, have a barbecue, or take a nap in the shade of the porch. The apartments are spread across different floors, accommodating 2 to 6 people. We also offer airport pick-up and transportation from the train or bus station. Please inquire about our pet policy.

Domingos and Anabela, the owners, have found a special place to live with their children in this valley. They hope that you will enjoy the natural resources and historical heritage of the area with your family and friends.

Information about Castro Marim:
Located in the Algarve region, Castro Marim is a small town known for its impressive castle. It offers a peaceful atmosphere and the charm of rural life, all within a short drive of the stunning beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

The Houses of Old Haystack consist of a small group of interconnected spaces within a traditional farm house. The construction dates back to the 19th century, and the rehabilitation has preserved the region's organic architecture.

Our houses are located near the border with Spain, providing easy access to the Campaign area and its beautiful beaches. We have taken great care to use traditional materials in the rehabilitation process, such as sugar cane, lime, wood, stone, Santa Catarina tiles, and wool for insulation.

We are committed to preserving the environment, and our wastewater is treated in a filter pit and a plant-treatment facility using halophyte plants and shrubs from the coast. The purified water is then used to water the garden. In the future, we plan to process grey water for reuse in laundry, hygiene, sanitation, and irrigation.

The Houses of the Old Haystack offer five accommodations, including three bedrooms and two suites. The rooms feature double beds and one of them also has a chair bed. The suites have queen-sized beds, mezzanines, and a lounge area with a kitchenette and stove. All spaces are equipped with TV, air conditioning, and private bathrooms with showers. We also have a breakfast room, garden, pool, barbecue area, and parking.

The surrounding area is peaceful and offers beautiful views of the well-preserved nature. You can observe agricultural workers and grazing sheep in the fields. We are just a three-minute drive from two golf courses, five minutes from the Beliche dam, and ten minutes from the beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

To reach us, you can fly to Faro airport and take the A22 towards Spain. Take the last exit before the Guadiana Bridge and follow the IC 27 and then the EN 122 until you reach Junqueira, near Montes Castelhanos and the Casas do Palheiro Velho.
