Description for B&B:
We are situated in Mesland, a charming village on the north shore of the Loire river, nestled between the towns of Blois and Amboise. Mesland is a stop along the renowned wine route of the Loire Valley and is conveniently located near the main "châteaux".This historic wine estate, built in the mid-nineteenth century, includes a grand mansion from 1846, a tranquil park adorned with century-old trees, and the former stable and wine-making facility. The last harvest took place in the Clos in 1955.
Our 14m swimming pool and relaxing deckchairs provide an ideal haven for rejuvenating between visits to the "châteaux", wine tastings, guided walks, and bike tours.
The Loire Valley, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers visitors breathtaking landscapes, including the untamed Loire river, vast forests, and majestic Royal Castles.
Located on the famous "Wine Road" and surrounded by vineyards, Mesland, our picturesque village, was established as a Priory in the 12th century by monks from the Marmoutier Abbey. The Notre-Dame church still stands as a testament to its history. Mesland has even lent its name to the "Touraine-Mesland" category of Loire Valley wines, which you can taste directly from the producers.
The Clos Sainte-Marie boasts an advantageous location near the most well-known castles of the Loire Valley, including Château de Chaumont sur Loire with its international garden festival (7 km), Château d'Amboise and the "Clos Lucé" where Leonardo Da Vinci once resided (19 km), Château de Blois (23 km), Château de Chenonceau (30 km), Château de Cheverny (35 km), and Château de Chambord (44 km). We highly recommend using the Michelin green guide "Castles of the Loire" to explore the region.
For families with children, there are numerous activities in the area, such as mini-castles in Amboise (20 km), the Loire Valley Aquarium in Lussault-sur-Loire (23 km), "Lulu Parc" for the little ones in Rochecorbon (36 km), the Beaumarchais animal reserve with its "safari train" in Autrèche (11 km), and the Beauval Zoo boasting over 4000 animals in Saint-Aignan (40 km).
In addition to castle visits, there is a wide array of activities available in the region, including wine tastings (we can provide recommendations), hot air balloon flights over the Loire river and castles, boat trips to discover the Loire, guided walking and cycling tours (we can assist with bike rentals), and horse riding at the Centre équestre du Val de Loire (16 km).
Golf enthusiasts will be delighted to find several golf courses in the region, including Golf de la Carte (18-hole) just 10 km away, Golf de Fleuray-Amboise (9-hole) also 10 km away, and Golf du Château de Cheverny (18-hole spanning over 6 km) at a distance of 35 km.
