Description for B&B:
Welcome to our guest room, located in the heart of the beautiful Loire Valley, with a stunning view of the Chaumont-sur-Loire castle and its garden festival. Our charming village of Onzain, with a population of 3500, is conveniently situated just fifteen minutes away from Blois, Amboise, Chenonceau, and half an hour from Chambord or Tours. The Onzain train station, served by the SNCF Paris-Tours line, is also easily accessible, allowing you to reach the capital in less than two hours. The Old Castle guest room is actually a spacious suite consisting of four rooms, totaling 70 square meters, with a private terrace on the upper wing of the historic building. This floor, dating back over 500 years and boasting a thickness of 1.20 meters, was completely renovated in 2010. You will have complete independence with your own private entrance.
Upon entering, you will find a room showcasing the host's collection of material and artifacts from the old castle, where breakfast will be served in case of bad weather. Climbing the stairs, you will arrive in the main room, flooded with natural light from four openings on both sides, spanning over 25 square meters. On the moat side, a venerable stone staircase will lead you to this room, also providing access to a small covered terrace nestled against the remnants of the fourteenth-century tower, where breakfast can be served when the weather permits.
The spacious master bedroom offers a comfortable 180-centimeter bed or two 90-centimeter beds. Additionally, there is a day bed (a real 90-centimeter bed) that can potentially accommodate a child. On the courtyard side, there is an office with a fireplace and TV, equipped with a 90-centimeter bed (a second one is possible). On the moat side, there is a small living room followed by a dressing room, featuring a 90-centimeter bed. This area also leads to the bathroom with a toilet and bathtub. Upon request, a crib and baby equipment can be provided.
Our park, large terrace (220 square meters), and secure moat are perfect for leisurely walks. We even have a boat available for you to explore the moat and get a closer look at the swans and ducks that adorn our 5000 square meters of land. Please note that our four-legged friends are not allowed, as the moat is guarded by our two dogs, Willow and Weston.
We are proud to be approved by "Gîtes de France" with a rating of 3 ears, and our guest room is open for reservations year-round. During the season, our association, "The Arts of Helion," organizes concerts and shows. If you happen to be staying with us on a day of performance, you will be our honored guests. If any furniture in your room catches your eye, you may even have the opportunity to purchase it from the Museum-Gallery of the Old Castle.
